Gianna's opening line to her speech played off a mix up she had at school earlier that week.  They were doing a skit in remembrance of 9/11, and she was saying the role of the president.  Instead of saying "ally" she accidentally said "alien," making her whole class laugh.  We talked about how sometimes, when you are giving a speech, you want to grab your audience's attention; she decided this little mix up would be a good opener;)

Watching a monarch butterfly hatch from its cocoon, right before our eyes... so neat!

Our neighbor brought the butterfly to our house for the afternoon because she was leaving but knew it would hatch very soon, and it did:)  She came back later that evening to help release it.

Ella's godparents gifted her a book on how to raise caterpillars into butterflies. We hope to try it ourselves next summer!:)
