Over the past half year or so, it became clear to us that we needed to consider a move closer family. It's hard for me to recap everything that went into this decision because there are SO many dynamics that came into play, but basically, through A LOT of prayer and discernment of God's Will for our lives, we have made the decision to move to Winona. Technically, we will be in a whole new state, but we will be closer! (Winona is about 30 minutes away from La Crosse.)
With this move, Andy will take on a new job as a Paramedic for Winona Area Ambulance. In anticipation of the start of his new job on February 20th, he ended his 6-year long career with Chippewa Falls Fire and Emergency Services. His last day was this past Friday, the 10th, and it was really bittersweet. It was hard for him to end his career here, to leave something that has become so familiar and something he thoroughly enjoys, but he has peace that this move is the best decision for our family.
This past Wednesday, I took the girls to the fire station for one final visit
For at least a little bit, Andy will hang up the fire aspect of his job in pursuit of his new job as a full time paramedic. He does have hopes, however, of picking it up again as either a volunteer or part-time firefighter.
(Have I ever told you what a WONDERFUL man I married?!!)
In anticipation of a move, we did put our house up for sale this past fall. In January, we had a fairly steady number of showings, but have yet to have any solid offers. We have thus decided, until our house sells, we will move in with Grandpa and Grandma Teska! We really don't know exactly when and how this whole move is going to take place, but we are trying to trust that in God's good time, everything will fall into place.
I'm really not doing justice to exactly how and why we came to this decision to move, and I feel like I'm giving you a fairly emotionless recap, but that's the best my brain can do right now;) At times, it was definitely a very hard decision to make and discern, but right now, we both feel a lot of peace about taking steps towards this new chapter in our lives. There are still a lot of unknowns, but we are trusting that this is God's Will for us. This life is definitely a journey and it's one we need to take, one step at a time.
There are people and places we will miss, not living in Chippewa Falls, but we are hopeful that the best is yet to come. And with that, we pray we will be open to the service God wants our family to give.
bittersweet for us also,we know how much Andy loved his job. But we also know how much he loves his family. We are so proud of him for making a tough decision. The best part is they will be closer to home, so we can see those little angels more often. See you soon.... Love you all...
