The weekend before his birthday, we headed to the park for some hockey, skating, a snowball fight, and some sledding. It was a warm winter day, which was nice, but unfortunately the ice and snow were a bit melted. We made the most of what was there and had fun anyway!
After our fun at the park, we headed home for a winter bonfire. The fire was made complete with s'mores and hot chocolate.
On Sunday, G&G Teska came up for a visit and gave him an awesome remote control garbage truck.
Monday was his actual birthday, and before school, he got a chance to open some of his presents.
After school, we continued the celebration with a firefighter themed birthday party!
His party food included: A Fire Truck Cake, Fire Truck Wheels (aka chocolate donuts), Flaming Fruit, Fireballs (aka cheese balls), Smokin' Meat and Cheese, Fiery Flames (aka peppers), Matches (aka pretzel sticks), and Fire Extinguishers (aka bottles of fruit punch)
When dad came home from work, he opened some more presents. He got his very own personalized firefighter's uniform, a new bathrobe Grandma Thompson made him and a wish list item, Monopoly: Cheaters Edition.
A party wouldn't be complete without a few games! The kids played a ball toss game, challenged each other to see who could keep a fireball candy in their mouth the longest, raced fire ducks in the bathtub, played Hot Potato, and grew a container full of water beads.
After game time, the night concluded with making personal sized pizzas and watching a movie!
The only downfall to his birthday. was mouth pain that made it hard for him to eat. The next day his cheek became swollen, but after a visit to the dentist, we learned it was likely just some new molars coming in!
