Happy 8th Birthday, Gianna!

8. Years. Old.
Wow.

This year, for her birthday, instead of a big party, we decided to take a day trip to Mt. Olympus in Wisconsin Dells.  We went on a nice, sunny (hot!) Saturday and had a great time!  We got to the water park shortly after it opened, found a shady spot in a kid's play area, and played in the water all afternoon.  The kids were all REALLY good which made the day that much more enjoyable.  The only downfall, I don't have a single picture to show for it!

We did walk downtown for a little bit before heading home so Gianna could pick out a birthday souvenir and we could enjoy some ice cream.  Here are the only pictures we took;)

Gianna really enjoyed the water slides and the wave pool:)

On Sunday, although we were all a bit tired from the day before, we geared up for a fun and relaxing celebration for her actual birthday day!

After mass, she enjoyed helping make her cake and spent the beautiful afternoon playing outside with her friends (and sister;)

Her big doughnut shaped "8" cake and her "8 is GREAT" birthday sign.

Not only was she a big help with her cake this year, but she also helped make the sign as well.  She came up with the idea of adding the little doughnuts to the sign knowing doughnuts would be her little theme. (I couldn't have been more proud;)

She was excited to wear her souvenir shirt from the Dells too:)

The rest of the evening was spent outside, enjoying the company of some family, eating pizza, and having a bonfire.
(What a fun way to celebrate a summer birthday!)

Maria dressed Casey in the same outfit Weston wore to Gianna's 1st birthday party! We pulled out the fire truck she got that year and couldn't resist a little photo remake:)

If you've ever been to a Luebke family birthday, you know there are about 5 different verses to sing "Happy Birthday" to the birthday girl!  At the end, everyone sings, "Stand up, stand up, we won't shut up until you stand up! Stand up, stand up..." over and over again until the birthday girl or boy stands up!  Gianna specifically sat down behind the table to enjoy this little verse of the song;)

She got new roller blades for a gift this year... this has been a favorite past time for the neighborhood girls this summer.  Gianna gladly gave back my too big roller blades for this spiffy new pair!

To end the night, Gianna and Weston enjoyed a game of checkers by the campfire:)
