Last week Andy got the opportunity to participate in his first SWAT raid!
Chippewa County has a team called the Combined Response Team which brings together the Sheriff's Department, City Police Department, and specially trained EMTs to carry out high risk police operations.
The team works pretty secretively; calls are made to the EMTs in a matter of just a few hours of when the incident is going to take place. The medic's job is to be close at hand to handle any medical emergencies that may arise during the SWAT call. In most cases, the medics are right there, in the midst of the action.
Andy got the opportunity to join the SWAT team early this past fall. He has participated in regular monthly training and was excited to put the training into action.
Here is a picture and an article about the call from one of the local newspapers:
(Andy thinks he is the 7th one in line in the picture)

(The) Nine SWAT team officers huddled together outside Thursday, followed each other in tight formation with their guns drawn, and then barreled through a door of an apartment on the city's West Hill.
With quick precision, the officers arrested a man. The execution of the search warrant, which began at about 11:45 a.m., was over in about two minutes.
It's these kinds of calls that really make me realize, my husband does not have a "normal" job.

Oh WOW! did not have any clue he was doing this!! That is crazy!
