Andy and I recently returned from a little get-away to Door County. Gianna got to spend a few days with both sets of grandparents. We left Saturday and returned Tuesday; it really felt like we were gone for a long time! This is usually a good feeling to have while your on vacation, but I can't say it didn't make me miss Gianna and make me think of her often. It was the longest I had been away from her since she was born. That said, we had a very nice time, and it was good to spend some time together, just the two of us:)
On Saturday, we drove to Oshkosh and spent the night there. We went out to eat at Chili's (yum, yum!), went to the mall in Appleton (you would have thought it was Christmas time; it was so busy!) and also went to the movie, The Social Network.
On Sunday, we headed to Sturgeon Bay. We got there with some time to kill before check-in at our bed and breakfast so we walked downtown and ate at a local cafe. When we sat down to eat, there was one other table with people at it and about 5 minutes later, we were the only customers in there until another couple came in towards the end of our meal (and we were pretty sure they were somehow connected to the place). The cafe had fairly good food, but the ambiance of the place could have used some sprucing up.
In a rather spur of the moment decision, we also went to the play, Tuesdays with Morrie at the local community theatre. It was a two man, one act play. Neither one of us had read the book, but we both thought the play was good.
Later that night, we decided to go bowling as well. We were heading to the local grocery store, saw the bowling alley, and decided it would be fun. I think it's usually pretty slow Sunday nights at bowling allies; we were the only ones bowling and got to play two games for the price of one. I think the last time we bowled together, we were still dating-- it was a lot of fun, and Andy is definitely a better bowler than I am:)
On Monday, we drove down to the end of peninsula in the morning and slowly made our way back. The weather was beautiful and the fall colors still had some peak left in them. We ate at one of our favorite restaurants in Door County, Wilson's, went to one of the county parks and Peninsula State Park, stopped at one of the local farm markets, did a little shopping in Fish Creek, and stopped to watch the sun set in Egg Harbor.
Finally, we returned home on Tuesday with one last lunch out before our vacation ended. In total, we drove a little over 900 miles over the 4 days. We were excited to see Gianna when we got back to La Crosse, and she seemed at least a little excited to see us too:)
A little over 3 years ago we had gone to Door County for our Honeymoon; during this trip, we enjoyed reminiscing about that time gone by. Here are a few then and now pictures-- some from our honeymoon and some from 3 years and a few months later:)

How fun! Gorgeous pictures of the scenery. I'm glad you had the opportunity to get away... those opportunities come few and far between for us parents, don't they?
