Swallowtail Butterflies

This summer Ella was at our neighbor's house, with our neighbor's granddaughter, and found five caterpillars on a dill plant.  They looked a lot like Monarch caterpillars, but after a little reading, we learned Monarch caterpillars only eat milkweed, not dill weed.  Some further investigation brought us to the conclusion these were Swallowtail caterpillars.  It sure was a fun little adventure watching the caterpillars eat and eat and eat, get bigger and bigger and bigger, form their chrysalises, then see one emerge as a butterfly!  Unfortunately, Ella only got to see one of the five emerge, as we were leaving on vacation for a week and needed to leave them behind.  Our friends, however, watched them for her and were kind enough to name and take pictures of some of the other butterflies:)
