Nifty at Nine!

Happy St. Patrick's Day! Today Gianna had her 9 month doctor's appointment! She really enjoyed tearing up the paper on the table but didn't enjoy the pokes and prods from the doctor. Who does;)? She weighs 17 lbs 14 ozs, is 28.3 inches long, and is doing very well in her social development. We told the doctor she is a very content baby, who just sits and plays with what she can reach or bends almost flat to the floor to get something that may be close enough to reach with a stretch, but we also asked him if we should be doing anything to encourage her to crawl and move more. He assured us, however, that she would move in her own time, and when she does, she will be all over the place! We talked about the two little teeth she has, and he warned us that more will not be far behind! For now, we can simply brush her teeth with water, but we also have to start giving her some fluoride drops since Chippewa water doesn't have fluoride in it. As far as food goes, she can pretty much eat anything we eat (except honey from a jar) as long as it's broken into small pieces and is soft enough. This means we can start feeding her less and less baby food and more of whatever we are eating. The most important thing is that it's healthy! At the end of the visit, Gianna did warm up to Dr. Forster (as long as he stayed on the other side of the room), and she even showed him how much she likes to stand, bounce, and clap:)

  1. I love that Gianna is clapping! That is one of my absolute favorite things about babies her age! Can't wait till Julia can do that!

  2. That video is so cute. Elijah used to get scared when he heard that paper because he knew it was time for a poke or two. It's funny how quickly they learn and how much they remember. And don't get too anxious for mobility... Elijah crawled at 6 months and walked at 9 and while we were super proud of him, it was way too exhausting way too soon.
